Nuu-chah-nulth women say the federal report on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls released this week, was long overdue.

Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council president Judith Sayers said they will use the report to open a real discussion in their communities.

“I’d like to see us do a Nuu-chah-nulth plan of action, using our experts at the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council to figure out what we can do as a tribal council and as individual First Nations.”

Sayers said violence against First Nations women is far too common, and all levels of government need to consider the 231 imperative changes recommended in the report.

The Tseshaht First Nation is hosting a gathering today for the families of Missing and Murdered women and girls and survivors of violence.
