Ottawa police are investigating an armed robbery at a Vanier pot shop Saturday afternoon that saw a shot fired by one of three assailants who fled with cash and drugs.
Police were called to 613 Medicinals at 274 Montreal Rd. on Saturday afternoon.
One person inside the dispensary was assaulted during the robbery but was not injured as a result of gunfire. Police said the person’s injuries were considered minor.
Police had cordoned off the shop for their investigation before the illegal marijuana dispensary closed for the day around 4 p.m.
No arrests had been made by early Saturday evening.
The Ottawa police robbery squad continues to investigate.
It was the city’s 17th shooting of 2018.
A raid by the force’s drug unit in December 2016 revealed that the dispensary, at that time, was selling drugs and a variety of edibles.
All marijuana dispensaries operating in the city are illegal storefronts. They are also not expected to be part of the pending marijuana legalization framework. Police have urged them to shut down.
